California Farmers who have pressurized irrigation systems and can show that upgrades will provide an energy and water savings

Eligible system components can include soil moisture monitoring, drip systems, switching to low pressure irrigation systems, pump retrofits, Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), and installation of renewable energy systems to reduce on-farm water use and energy.

Other upgrades may be eligible as well.

Yes, every project needs to have a flow meter installed (if there isn't an existing one).

Projects must also have Green House Gas (GHG) reductions and equipment which can produce water savings.

The CDFA currently has the SWEEP Grant on hold.

CDFA will assign Block Grant Recipients (BGRs) later in 2026.

Those BGRs are expected to hold competitions in late 2026, into 2027.

A single entity can receive $200,000 per SWEEP solicitation and up to $600,000 across multiple solicitations.

An application must be approved before making any payments towards the project.
